With great services and offers, Fatboy coolers are here to be part of the outdoor community as fun and reliable coolers that have nice things to offer regardless of being a novice brand to the monstrous coolers’ industry.

Now I need to get this off my chest; seeing the white version of the Fatboy’s hard sided coolers for the first time I thought it was a Yeti; the resemblance is just ridiculous. Speaking durability and toughness; these Fatboys are darn solid; you can run them over, drug them around, or even throw them off a moving vehicle and they would still be intact. The roto-molding build quality proved to be very rigid and worth every penny spent on it; thus, you’re most likely going to end up with a cooler that’ll last a life time.
The design as a whole here is what you’d call classic and neat; getting any of these Fatboys means that you’re getting an item that can’t be outdated easily. Also, the featured details add up greatly to these coolers’ functionality and versatility which we’ll see next.
The Fatboy Fatpack soft coolers are as good as well; they’re made of 600 denier waterproof TPU outer shell and PEVA waterproof inner liner that provide a dual waterproof barrier.

Ice Retention & Insulation Ability
Following some basic tips related to ice and food storing in any cooler will lead to a better retention and insulation. However, what’s good about roto-molded coolers is that they are built to excel at this without having to try so hard. Thus, this Fatboy Coolers collection is just as good as some of your favorite global brands at keeping ice and drinks fresh inside.
First things first though, large coolers tend to have a prolonged ice retention periods compared to smaller ones. That being said, the Fatboy 20qt can hold ice up to 6 days with it being exposed to sun and opened multiple times during the day to check on the ice. It’s actually great for a little personal cooler to be able to that.
Now you can guess for how long the Fatboy 110qt can keep going. This bad boy can maintain a lot of ice up to 10 days or more in all different conditions. It’s certain that there’ll be ice melting and water action at the bottom of your cooler; you just have to drain it every now and then when necessary.
All of this is thanks to the 2 inches of exclusive polyurethane Cryo-Foam insulation that’s known and guaranteed to provide superior ice retention. Now our advice is to pre-chill the cooler if possible, keep it away for the sun as much as possible and open it only when necessary to make your ice last longer.
The same thing can be said about Fatboy’s soft coolers; they’re pretty compact with ½-inch BlubberTM insulating layer that keeps the Fatpack’s innards safe, cool and dry” for a nice picnic or a short road trip.
A soft cooler is not expected to keep anything inside for longer than a day anyway; it’s meant for quick and short excursions, picnics, or even water rafting; you just have to reload your backpack every now and then whenever possible.

As previously mentioned on this Fatboy cooler review; the first thing we happened to notice and agree upon is how similar these Fatboys are to Yeti’s classic white coolers which is not bad at all; almost all roto-molded coolers end up with the same shape and design (more or less).
- Now these Fatboys come with nice and durable rubbery T-rex latches to support a perfectly sealed lid that you can use as an extra chair. These latches are here so that the lid never comes opened while driving or transporting the cooler unless you undo them manually.
- Also, the lid is featured with an industrial grade gasket that’ll prevent both; hot air from getting into the cooler and cold air from getting out. It’s thick and it completely respects the universal standards of a quality gasket.
- However, sometimes you need to reopen the lid after you’ve just closed it to grab something you forgot about and the lid would be dead sealed, no worries; Fatboy Coolers are featured with a vacuum release button so that you can reopen the lid all easily. This button comes handy when draining the cooler as well making it less messy and splashy.
- To wrap up this lid talk; this latter is featured with a molded rule for fishing and hunting enthusiasts who like to keep track of their progress; which brings me to mention how versatile these Fatboys Coolers are.

- Before we end this part of the review, it’s only logical to remind you that the Fatboy 70qt is featured with heavy duty wheels in case you’re looking for a cooler that you can drag around instead of carrying. A cooler like this can save you a lot of effort especially when it’s fully loaded.
- The handles on the Fatboy 70qt are exactly the same as the rest of the collection which might be a little short in this case; you’ll have to bend a little instead of walking straight while dragging the cooler which we hope won’t be a fun killer.
- Last but not least, the draining hole on these coolers is large enough for fast draining without worrying about losing the plus; it’s tethered to the cooler by a stainless steel chain that’s going to last a life time.
Who is it for?
In this analysis, Fatboy Coolers proved to be a great line with their sizes, color options, and neat details. All of that together is what makes any cooler a versatile one that you can find in the back seat or trunk of anyone at all; starting with a worker who needs a fresh drink/lunch at his work space, all the way to a fisherman in the middle of a lake or river.

Now this is a never ending debate where Yeti is always the model that many of you out there might end up comparing their cooler to. Well, you really don’t have to if you want our opinion.
Fatboy Coolers and many other brands managed to make quality roto-molded coolers that can do exactly what Yeti or any other leading brand do with just a little difference in terms of maybe details and sometimes ice retention ability.
In our case, Fatboy Coolers look great, they come in a variety of colors, they’ve got great insulation and they’re here to make a remaining spot for themselves. However, there is a clear gap between Yeti and Fatboy when it comes to pricing which is always the case with Yeti. To be fair though, this latter is an American certified bear-resistant brand while Fatboy Coolers is not.
As for ice retention, we can confirm that Fatboy Coolers and Yeti deliver approximately the same performance keeping ice inside almost for the same amount of time except that Yeti was a little ahead when things got real.
Let’s not forget that Yeti uses 3 inches of commercial grade foam for their impeccable insulation while Fatboy Coolers only got 2 inches.
